1925 - Bjj begins
In 1925, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) was born with the establishment of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu by the Gracie family in Brazil. This martial art was the result of a deep understanding of Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and Judo, adapted and refined to emphasize technique, leverage, and ground fighting. The Gracie family's dedication to perfecting this art laid the foundation for modern Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Their innovation in self-defense techniques, including the use of submissions and positional control, revolutionized martial arts and became a defining feature of BJJ's legacy.
